Charles (Chuck) Mugica

1940 - 2025

Charles "Chuck" Manuel Mugica was born on February 20, 1940, in Chicago, Illinois. He was the son of Maria Victoria Lopez and Antonio Joaquin Mugica and grew up in a big family, with five siblings—Alfred (Fred) Mugica, Alice (Lee) Corrigan, Mary (Lu) Muhr/Solari, Victor (Vic) Mugica, and Robert (Bob) Mugica. Chuck served in the Army from 1959 to 1967, where he obtained the education that would lead him to a successful career in Information Technology computing. After his time in the military, he transitioned into a successful career at Standard Oil, later Amoco, where he dedicated over 23 years of his life, working in both Chicago and Houston. His sharp intellect and quick wit were his hallmarks, making him a respected colleague, manager, mentor and friend. Once he hung up his work boots, Chuck embraced retirement with open arms. He enjoyed many fishing trips with family and friends through the years. He also took great joy in crafting beautiful, detailed wood bird carvings that showcased his artistic side and brought him immense satisfaction. Most importantly, he loved every moment spent with his partner of 37 years, Julie Spoth. Their relationship was a beautiful example of support, dedication and love. He is survived by Julie; sister Lee; brother Bob; his children: daughter Stefanie, son Charles (Chuckie); grand-daughter Natalie; two great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Chuck passed peacefully on November 12, 2025, in Houston, Texas. He touched so many lives and will be dearly missed, yet his spirit will always remain alive in the laughter and kindness he shared with those around him. At this time, no formal service is planned per his wish. However, please do leave any messages or stories you wish to share on this site as it will be a great comfort to his family.
