Charles Edward Grubbs, at 89 years of age and residing in Charlotte, NC, passed away December 28, 2025. Born December 13, 1936 to the late William and Edna Grubbs; he grew up in Gainesville, FL, graduated from the University of Florida and enjoyed a successful 32-year career in commercial tire sales for General/Continental Tire in Ohio before retiring back to Florida.
A gracious and wise man, Charles lived a life defined by kindness, humor and deep devotion to those he loved. He was immensely proud of his family and found his greatest joy in time spent with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom he loved to celebrate and brag about at every opportunity.
Charles was a lifelong fan of the Florida Gators - a loyalty he wore with pride and enthusiasm throughout his life. He also enjoyed solving crossword puzzles, sharing stories from his life, and delighting others with his jokes. His gift for storytelling, good conversation and gentle humor brought laughter and connection wherever he went.
Above all, Charles will be remembered for his warmth, wisdom, and the steady presence he was to his family and friends. His legacy lives on in the stories he told, the lessons he taught, and the love he gave so freely.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of over 50 years, Barbara (Warren) Grubbs; two sisters, Eleanor and Claire and beloved son-in-law, Paul Vasiloff. He is survived by his children, Jeanne (Chuck) Phipps, Randy (Donna) Grubbs and Vicki Vasiloff; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Kathi Warren; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date in Gainesville, FL.
