Charles N. Johnson, 78, born in Williamstown, NY, last residing in Summerfield, FL, fell asleep in death on February 16, 2026, at Cornerstone Hospice in The Villages, FL.
Charlie was born on July 9, 1947, to George and Lovania (Taplin) Johnson. He attended the Altmar-Parish-Williamstown (APW) schools and graduated in 1965. Charlie held many jobs throughout his life, most notably as a cargo loader for the freighter Edmund Fitzgerald. He also worked for a time in Alaska, a place he dearly loved. He spent a majority of his life in the Fox Valley or WI, primarily in Green Bay and New London. He retired as a "truck driving god," having driven for many companies throughout his career. Most recently, he drove part-time for Boomerang, retiring on December 29, 2025.
Charlie was predeceased by his second wife, Arlene (Challe); his stepchildren Roxanne, Michael, and William; and his older brother, Robert "Bob" Johnson.
Surviving are his children, Scott Johnson of Westdale, NY, and Sonja (Bill Rathsack) of Appleton, WI; his stepchildren Debbie (Nigel Kent) of Camden, NY, Kelly Radtke of Bear Creek, WI, and Adelle (Timothy Kroll) of Rougemont, NC; 17 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchildren spread throughout the country.
He is also survived by his brothers and sisters: Jim (Hahn) of Augusta, GA; John (Marylou) of Williamstown, NY; Grace (Craig Cox) of Grand Rapids, MI; Harold "Pete" (Donna) of Green Bay, WI; Gary (Vonny) of Williamstown, NY; Lois (David Dupont) of Williamstown, NY; Harlow "Bud" (Leona) of Summerfield, FL; and David (Julie) of Painted Post, NY.
Charlie was a self-proclaimed procrastinator and the king of satire and sarcasm. He loved to read, sit in the sun, and gather with his school chums when he was in New York. He was loved dearly and will be greatly missed.
According to his wishes, there will be no services. Funeral arrangements were handled by Baldwin Brothers Funeral & Cremation Society of The Villages, FL.
