Charles Richard Levin ("Chuck"), age 89, passed away in Los Angeles, Tuesday, November 18, 2025.

Chuck was known for his gregarious charm, wit, compassion and love of learning. He was devoted to his wife of fifty-five years, Elizabeth, as well as his sons, Benjamin and Daniel, daughter-in-law, Michelle, and grandsons, William and Joshua.

Chuck was born in Newton, MA, to Benjamin and Charlotte Levin and was the youngest of three brothers, who filled the home with laughter and mischief. Chuck and his beloved brothers, Phil and Ira, retained their boyish humor throughout their life. Chuck excelled at school, attending Phillips Andover for high school and then receiving an undergraduate degree in English at Harvard College and a law degree from Harvard Law School.

The son of one of the founders of the law firm formerly known as Mintz Levin, Chuck decided to blaze his own trail and provide general business law services as a founding partner in several small law firms and then as a sole practitioner. Chuck believed in using his legal skills, wisdom and charisma to help people.

A Bostonian for most of his life, Chuck only ventured away from his home of over 75 years for two momentous stages of his life. The first was in the late 1960s when he worked in Washington DC and was swept off his feet by the love of his life, Elizabeth Levin. They married on May 24, 1970. Shortly thereafter, they moved back to Boston and raised their two sons in the South End. In 2017, Chuck and Liz moved to Los Angeles to be near their two grandsons, their son, Daniel, daughter-in-law, Michelle and many cousins. He cherished his time in LA with his family.

While Chuck had a wide range of interests and an insatiable intellectual curiosity, his most important priority was his family. He cared deeply about his and Liz's family and most enjoyed himself when with them, whether at frequent dinners or the annual reunions in Gloucester, Acadia National Park and other destinations.

Chuck loved people and he expressed that love for people through his gentle kindness, generosity, irrepressible humor and optimism. In return, he was beloved by those fortunate enough to share time with him. Words cannot encapsulate Chuck. Chuck was someone who had to be experienced.
