Charles Gerard McLaughlin Sr. passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Saturday, April 18, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Cherished son of the late Michael and late Kathleen (nee McGing) McLaughlin; Beloved husband of Christine (nee Cromer); Loving father of CJ (Katherine), Shawn, and Ryan (Lisa); Devoted Papa of Finn; Fond brother of Kathy (Mark) Henmueller, Eileen (Danny) Smolak, Michael (Lori), Jimmy (Jen), and Patrick; Kind uncle to his nieces and nephews; Dear friend to many.

He is preceded in death by his sisters Diane McLaughlin, Nora (Mark (Theresa)) Markham, and Mary Anne Foster.

Proud member of Ironworkers Union Local #1 for 38 years; Lifelong Denver Broncos, Chicago Cubs, and Fighting Irish fan; Avid fisherman; Dedicated pool boy; Mentor to many after maintaining 20 years of sobriety.

A celebration of Charlie's life will be held on Thursday, April 30, 2026, from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Pinstripes - Northbrook, 1150 Willow Road. A short service with bagpipes will begin at 6:00 pm. Family and friends are welcome to come together, share memories, and celebrate the remarkable life he lived.
