Charles Palmer Moore, originally of Austell, Georgia, died peacefully at the age of 84 on February 3, 2026. He is preceded in death by his parents Ruth Louise Withers Moore and Charlie Wesley Moore, and by his grandfather Edward Palmer Withers Sr. He is survived by his daughter Marla Leigh Moore and his loving and beloved wife of 33 years Elizabeth "Betty" Montoya Moore.
Charles graduated from South Cobb High School where he played football and excelled in math, science, and drawing, and he went on to earn an associate's degree in engineering from Southern Polytechnic State University. He worked briefly for Lockheed Martin as an aerospace engineer, back in the days of hand-drafting, and he enjoyed an enduring love of planes and airshows at Dobbins Air Reserve Base. He had an early interest in historic Atlanta architecture as well as for designing open-concept homes, and applied his creativity, math, and problem-solving skills to his work for many years in home design and construction in the Atlanta area.
Known as my beloved Daddy, and very fondly by others as "Chas", "CP" and as Betty's "Charlecito", he was well-known for his big hugs, warm greetings and witty humor. He fiercely loved his friends and family, and he also made friends with all the dogs and cats in any neighborhood where he lived. He had a special ability to notice and care when those around him needed support, and he also had the wisdom to provide kind words with reverence and compassion. He sought support from his faith in God throughout his life, and viewed his faith as very personal and sustaining. He is deeply loved and is greatly missed.
