Charles Henry Parker, Jr. passed away peacefully in his sleep on October 15, 2025. Charlie was born to Charles Henry Parker and Phyllis Perkins Parker on July 21, 1949 and is survived by his sister, Phyllis Parker Fitzgerald. Charlie's brother, George Parker, who was his fraternal twin, passed away in January of 2021.
Charlie is also survived by his four children: Stephanie Altland, Virginia (Ginny) Whorton, Charles (Andrew) Parker and Jon Parker. He was also blessed with eight grandchildren and one great granddaughter.
Charlie was a graduate of Highland Springs High School, served a short period of time in the US Air Force and then worked for the U.S Postal Service as a letter carrier for 37 years. He loved his work, his customers and his co-workers, retiring only by necessity when he developed kidney cancer, eventually in both kidneys. Charlie's oldest son, Andrew generously donated one of his kidneys, which was a "perfect match" and gave Charlie almost 20 more years of life without dialysis.
When he was not delivering the mail, Charlie loved bowling, fishing and attending ice hockey games. He was a Richmond Renegades fan, and he also enjoyed attending local football games and watching his youngest son play in marching band.
The family is grateful for VCU/ Bayada Hospice team and the wonderful care he received in his last days from Gladys and the caregivers at Angel Group Home. Arrangements for a celebration of his life are pending.
