Charles (Chuck) Edward Schmidt, 91, of Marietta, GA, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 13th, surrounded by his loved ones. His cause of death was acute heart failure.

Chuck was born on September 17th, 1934, in Tehachapi, California. He was a Selective Service veteran, serving in the U.S. Coast Guard from 1953–1957. After earning a bachelor’s degree from San Jose State University, he entered corporate life in the field of industrial and commercial sales management and later became a home builder for twenty years before retiring.

He is predeceased by one of his four sons, Timothy B. Schmidt, and is survived by his wife of 70 years, Jacqueline M. Schmidt; their three remaining sons, Michael S. Schmidt, Kevin C. Schmidt, and Bradley D. Schmidt; and their five grandchildren.

Chuck, known lovingly as “Papa” to his grandchildren, was a man who expressed unconditional love as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather throughout his life. He lived a vibrant and artistic life. His love and passion for nature, animals, gardening, carpentry, and photography were always inspiring. He had an infectious smile, a true spirit of adventure, and lived his life to the fullest. He was a blessing to everyone who knew and loved him.

With deep regret, he will be sadly missed by all who came to know and love him. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him and continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to share in his life.
