Charles Edward Stewart was born on August 28,1962 in Gary, Indiana, to the late Eldridge Stewart and Anna Bell Cherry.On December 27, 2025, Charles passed away at the University of Chicago, IL. Charles confessed his life to Christ at an early age attending Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church in Gary, IN.
Charles's educational journey began with the Gary Community School Corporation where he attended Washington Elementary School, Tolleston Middle School, and graduated from West Side High School in 1981. He furthered his education by attending Lincoln Tech Institute in Gary, IN and Triton College in Chicago, IL where he received certifications in HVAC, Boiler Operations, and Electricity.
Charles worked for the City of Gary, IN (Street Department) for over fourteen years in the positions of General Foreman, Superintendent and Assistant Director. He joined Majestic Star Casino, East Chicago, IN where he worked as a Maintenance Mechanic and later moved to Hard Rock Casino in Gary, IN working a combined twenty-six years until retiring in 2024. He often worked various side jobs doing carpentry, plumbing and electrician work. It was like he had his own business as a "Handyman."
He was preceded in death by his parents Eldridge and Anna Stewart, grandson Xavier Stewart, and brother-in-law Eric Allen. Charles leaves to cherish his memories, a devoted fiancé Loria Harmon; daughter Alburney Stewart; sons Charles Stewart Jr (Murfreesboro, TN), Donta Stewart and Raffiel (LaEsha) Frazier; 18 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; brother, Robert Farmer (Henderson, NV); sisters, Debra (Allan) Jenkins, Carolyn (Darryl) Brown and Caroline Allen (Henderson, NV); bonus family, Azurea, Jeremiah, and Jaxon Harmon; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and many, many friends.
