Charles Michael Thompson, Jr., known to family and friends as Mike, was born on March 14, 1949, in Hackensack, New Jersey, the second son of Charles (Chub) and Connie Thompson.
Mike was a proud graduate of Nolan Catholic High School's class of 1967, a high school All American basketball player, who went on to earn his degree from the University of Texas in 1971. Over the course of his career, Mike worked in Dallas, Philadelphia, and Boston in a variety of roles across the financial, insurance, and manufacturing industries.
After a long and fulfilling career, Mike retired to Houston in 2019, choosing to return to Texas to be closer to his family. He cherished time spent with loved ones and maintained strong connections with family and friends both near and far. Mike was Godfather to Colleen and Matthew. Mike enjoyed golfing, especially the many golf trips with his Dad and brothers, UT football, most sports, and crossword puzzles.
Mike was preceded in death by his mother, Connie Thompson; his siblings, Don, Mary, and Matt; and his brother-in-law, Fred Edwards. He is survived by his father, Charles Michael Thompson, Sr. (Joan); his siblings, Linda (Dennis), Peter (Franceen), Jerry (Peggy), Marty (Christa), and Maggie (Martha); his sister-in-law, Cindy; and numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.
Mike will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him. He was a great brother and always willing to lend a hand.
