Charles T. “Chuck” Urban, 91, of Wauwatosa, Wisconsin passed away Wednesday, March 11, 2026.
Chuck was a loving father and partner whose kindness seemed limitless. His love of the outdoors took him around the world – experiencing some of the most incredible spots for hunting, fishing, and gardening. His story telling was legendary.
Chuck was born March 9, 1935, in Cicero, Illinois to Charles and Blanche Urban. He attended and graduated from Northwestern University where he met and married Gretchen Schuele. Chuck had five children who share many of his interests although none challenge his ability to tell a story. Before retiring, he was the President of American Plating and Manufacturing Co., now operated by his son Karl. Chuck spent a significant amount of time developing Urban Farms in Ohio with a large section of the property being dedicated in 2024 as the Urban Marsh to benefit wildfowl habit in conjunction with Ducks Unlimited.
Chuck is preceded in death by Charles (Sr.) and Blanche, his parents, Gretchen, his former wife, Susanne (Susie), a beloved daughter and his son-in-law Jeff Key.
Chuck is survived by his daughter Cyndi Jendro (Don), his son C.T. Urban (Kathy), his daughter Sarah Urban Johnston and his son Karl Urban. Chuck had eight amazing grandchildren, Donny (Angela), Susie (Mike Colesworthy), Caryn (Phil Fensel), Charlie, Eleanor, Elisabeth, Helen and Beatrice, all who will miss Papa, Grandpa and “Papa Tool”.
Chuck is also survived and will be missed by his partner of many years, Joan Coufal of Wauwatosa, and her children, Del (Lynda), Cheryl and Scott (Heather), as well as their children Sam, Anna and Eva who considered Chuck as a grandpa.
Throughout his life, whether it was hunting, fishing, traveling or AA sponsoring, Chuck developed many friends and acquaintances who he treasured. A Celebration of Life gathering and light lunch will be held Sunday, April 19 from 1-4 pm at Edgewood Valley Country Club, 7500 Willow Springs Road Burr Ridge, Illinois 60525 for all those who can attend to share memories of our dad.
