Chaz Harris

Chaz Mitchell Harris, age 30, a resident of Georgia, passed away on March 31, 2026, as the result of a car accident in Alabama. Born on December 1, 1995, Chaz lived a life defined by curiosity, individuality, and a deep love of exploration.

Chaz was a multifaceted and truly one-of-a-kind person whose wide range of interests reflected his adventurous spirit. Among all his pursuits, caving stood out as his greatest passion. He was an avid caver who found both joy and meaning in exploring the natural wonders beneath the earth, embracing the challenge and quiet beauty of that world. He was a proud member of Pigeon Mountain Grotto, Dogwood City Grotto and the Walker County Cave and Cliff Rescue Team.

Music was another of Chaz's great loves. He was a remarkable musician, and those who had the chance to hear him will remember the way he could bring a tune to life with his mandolin, guitar, or banjo, sharing not just songs but a sense of connection and joy.

He is survived by his mother, Susan Parks, and stepfather, Patrick Parks; his father, Tom Harris, and his partner, Paula Nick; his sister, Marenthia Harris; and his grandmother, Shelby Harris. He also leaves behind four aunts, two uncles, eleven cousins, and their families, all of whom will carry his memory forward.

Chaz will be remembered for his adventurous heart, his distinctive spirit, and the light he brought into the lives of those who knew him. His legacy will live on in the places he explored, the music he shared, and the many lives he touched.
