Philippians 4:13
“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”

Cheryl Jennings Boozer passed away peacefully at her home in Atlanta, Georgia, on December 20, 2025, after a 6-year battle with breast cancer. She was surrounded by her family, her dearest friend, and her beloved dog.

Cheryl was born on June 28, 1958, in Erlanger, Kentucky. Her family moved to California when Cheryl was in high school, where she graduated as valedictorian of her class. She later attended the University of Georgia, graduating cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Risk Management from the Terry College of Business. Following college, Cheryl built a long and fulfilling career as an executive in the commercial insurance industry. She married her husband, Rusty, in Atlanta in 2008 after the two met as neighbors.

Driven and professionally accomplished, Cheryl ultimately became the Southeast leader of Lockton Companies’ complex commercial property and casualty business, serving as a trusted advisor to her corporate partners. She was deeply dedicated to her colleagues and those she mentored. Since her passing, many coworkers, who were also her friends, have shared memories of her lasting influence. Cheryl was often described as being “full of humanity and caring for her people,” a phrase that perfectly captured her approach to leadership. Her visionary style was known for its emphasis on mentorship, integrity, professionalism, and genuine care for others. She excelled at the work, but she worked for and with the people she cared so deeply about.

Cheryl lived a full life, guided by passions that served her community and warmed her heart. She was a life-long learner. In her later years, her love for art blossomed as she explored color and form through watercolor painting. She devoted time to caring for the horses that support children’s therapy at Chastain Horse Park, uniting her love of horses with her commitment to giving back. A constant pulse in her life was her love for animals, especially horses and dogs. She was matron of the land of misfit dogs, all of whom were fortunate to benefit from her love, patience, and deep understanding. In return, they filled her life with light. This devotion is difficult to overstate – dogs were the focus of her spare time, her art, and her heart.

Cheryl was deeply spiritual, and her faith and strength only grew throughout her battle with cancer. She placed her relationship with God at the center of everything she did. Cheryl expressed her faith in many ways, from her commitment to saving as many of His creatures as she could – especially the canine variety – to her devotion to the Church through daily prayer and artistic expression. Almost every day, Cheryl could be found in her reading chair, studying scripture and translating God’s word into beautiful watercolor scenes. Every page of her Bible is filled with her interpretations, drawings, and paintings. This extraordinary work of art may have been her finest, a profound expression of her faith and love for God.

Cheryl’s warmth, wit, and compassion will be deeply missed by all who had the good fortune to know her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Victor and Betty Jennings and her brother, Craig. She is survived by her loving husband, Russell W. Boozer Sr.; her stepchildren, Lindsay (Will), Claire (Noel), and Russell Jr. (Amber); her grandchildren; her brother, Jeff Jennings; and extended family and friends who will miss her dearly.

A small private gathering is planned. The family is deeply grateful for the support extended to them during this difficult time. They also wish to express their profound appreciation to Dr. Jane Meisel and the team at Winship Institute of Emory University.

In her honor, donations may be made in Cheryl’s memory to Emory Winship Cancer Institute or Furkids.
