Cheryle Brown

1945 - 2025

Cheryle Wynne Brown, 80, passed away on November 26, 2025, in Dobson, NC at the Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home after a prolonged battle with lung cancer and Alzheimer's disease.

Born on March 21, 1945, Cheryle was a proud graduate of Williamston High School, home of the Greenwave Marching Band, where she was a majorette. She met her husband of 57 years, Wilson, at the Tavern on the Green in Winston-Salem and they went on to start a family in the area. She had a special group of friends who knew she was a "dropper inner." The house was always filled with the sounds of Phoebe Snow, and Johnny Mathis records while she was dusting. She built a fulfilling career as a decorator with Sorrell Paint and Wallpaper and Peterson Fabrics, where she loved helping her customers.

She was also known for her cooking, preparing large holiday meals often featuring chosen family at the table. She could not get enough Italian restaurant food, and cherished time spent at the beach.

She held many roles: mom, Grandbuddy, sister, surrogate mom, and dear friend.
Cheryle is lovingly remembered by her son Randy Brown, daughter Sally Brown, granddaughter Haylee Williamson, surrogate daughter Susan Williamson, many nieces, nephews, and beloved cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents Mattie and Carl Wynne; brother Carl Wynne Jr.; sister Nancy Martin; and husband Wilson Brown.

A memorial service to celebrate Cheryle's life will be held at Woodhaven Baptist Church, 4000 Kildaire Farm Rd., Apex, NC 27539 on Saturday, December 13th at 1:30 p.m.

In the lieu of flowers donations may be made to the V Foundation for Cancer Research.
