Christina Ana Irene Hernández, 31, passed away in Portland, Multnomah County, Oregon. A celebration of her life was held on February 6, 2026.
Christina was born on April 21, 1994, in Austin, Travis County, Texas, the daughter of Raymond Hernandez, Irene Hernandez, and Mark Roberts. From the very beginning, she was cherished—a long-prayed-for blessing whose life brought joy, color, and connection to everyone around her.
Growing up in a blended family, Christina learned resilience, built strength and depth of character, and grew into a thoughtful, deeply caring, and kind person. She shared her love of Pokémon, Nintendo games, Anime, Hello Kitty, Japanese culture, and the magical worlds of Harry Potter with her nieces and nephews. From childhood through adulthood, Christina was a Disney Parks expert, visiting the parks more times than her years of life, and she shared that joy with everyone in the family. She was also fond of Universal Studios, where everything Harry Potter came to life—and so did her lifelong love of dinosaurs. Her passion for engineering and technology emerged early, already evident by the age of 5.
She attended McNeil High School in Round Rock, Texas, where she met her future husband, Francisco Xavier Alvarado, in their 9th‑grade engineering classes. After high school, Christina and Francisco attended Baylor University. Christina earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering with a minor in Mathematics in May 2016. She completed two summer internships with the IBM Watson research program before joining IBM full‑time after graduation.
Francisco earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and joined the U.S. Navy as a nuclear submarine officer. He proposed to Christina after completing basic training, and they were married on May 4, 2017. Christina took a sabbatical from her full-time career to support his military career. They were stationed in Charleston, South Carolina, and later Kings Bay, Georgia.
After completing his full-time service in April 2024, they moved across the country to Hillsboro, Oregon. They bought a home and began building their future. Christina loved the Portland area—the arts, music, festivals, Japanese gardens and the International Rose Test Garden, open markets, parks, the symphony, and the vibrant life of the city.
Christina had many talents and pursued each with passion and mastery. She had a photographic memory, was an avid computer gamer and reader, and embraced a keto lifestyle. She became highly skilled in cooking, crocheting, knitting, and Tunisian crochet. She treasured her crochet circle and found joy in crafting handmade pieces for others. Twenty‑five baby blankets she lovingly made were donated to several local organizations. She loved gardening. Tofu, a recently adopted rescue dog, was another of her great joys. She approached everything with a vibrant, child‑like enthusiasm— truly living life on her own terms and on top of the world with her husband.
Most recently, Christina had joined a company whose mission was to support individuals with special needs in developing life skills—a calling that reflected her compassionate heart and desire to uplift others. In death, Christina continued her generosity as an organ donor, offering hope and healing to those in need.
Christina is survived by her husband, Francisco Xavier Alvarado; her parents; her sister, Andrea Marie Hernandez Baylor, her husband Christopher LaRue Baylor, nephews Kwinton and Christopher LaRue Baylor II, and nieces Lillian and Alexis Baylor; sister Kristin Roberts Hazlewood and her children, Anton, his wife Josse, Sara, David, Lauren Hazlewood; and brother Michael Roberts and his wife Debora Furman; and many uncles, aunts, and cousins.
