Christine “Chrissy” Barnes, age 44, passed away peacefully while surrounded with love from both family and friends on December 5, 2025 after fighting a courageous battle with cancer. Born on April 2, 1981, in Saint Paul, Minnesota. Chrissy embraced life with an open heart and an adventurous spirit that left a lasting impression on all who knew her.

Chrissy was survived by her mother, Janice Barnes, her uncles Dave (his husband Daniel) and Mike ( his wife Linda) as well as her cousins Eric and Danie. She was preceded in death by her grandparents Floyd and Florence as well as her uncle Tom.

From childhood on, Chrissy radiated a zest for life that drew others to her effortlessly. Her love for the outdoors took her from the rocky shores of Lake Superior to peaceful paddles across Minnesota’s lakes. National parks were among her favorite destinations—places where she found both adventure and serenity. Her deep appreciation for nature was matched by her passion for Volkswagens and the steadfast companionship of her two cherished dogs, Scirocco and Diesel.

Chrissy’s warmth extended far beyond her hobbies; she had a rare gift for making people feel seen and appreciated. Whether bonding over shared interests like pit bulls or Volkswagens, music or simply offering one of her legendary cheesecakes, she created meaningful connections that endured. Baking brought Chrissy immense joy—her sweet creations were more than desserts; they were expressions of love shared generously with friends old and new.

Music was another thread woven through Chrissy’s life. The sounds of Odesza often filled the background of road trips or quiet evenings at home, providing a soundtrack to moments both big and small. She thrived on connection—through music, conversation, or shared experiences—and built friendships that became chosen family.

Her journey led her to make deep friendships with those she worked with at Aveda, Apple and Audi. She also had close connections to her neighbors both as a child and as an adult. In each place she worked or lived, Chrissy formed deep bonds grounded in mutual respect and genuine care. These relationships became pillars of support throughout every chapter of her life.

Even as she faced cancer with unwavering courage and grace—never dwelling on pain or hardship—Chrissy remained a source of strength and inspiration to those around her. Her resilience shone brightly through every treatment and challenge. Friends rallied around her with love: accompanying her to appointments, sitting beside her during treatments, or simply being present when it mattered most.

A celebration of Chrissy's life will be held at a later date to honor the vibrant spirit she brought into this world.

May Chrissy be remembered for the joy she spread so freely—the laughter shared over a desert, the adventures taken under open skies, and the kindness that touched everyone lucky enough to know her.
