Christine C. McDonald

Mrs. Christine C. McDonald, 84 of Hamlet, NC passed away Thursday, March 19, 2026, at Atrium Health Hospital, surrounded by her family.

Christine was born November 30, 1941, in Richmond County. She was preceded in death by her parents Postel Cameron and Inez Hazel Stanback Cameron of Richmond County, NC.

Also preceded in death was her husband Fred T. McDonald, Hamlet, NC and son Ricky Darryl McDonald, Charlotte, NC. She leaves two children: Alfred McDonald (Barbara), Tampa, FL, and Delilah McDonald, Charlotte, NC. She also leaves a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren. Also, a host of nieces and nephews.

She was a devoted member of First Baptist Church, Hamlet, NC and Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, Charlotte, NC. She joined church at an early age, where she would attend with her late grandmother Sallie Mae Little Standback. She grew up with a love for church and the Lord that her grandmother fostered in her. Sister McDonald faithfully served as a member of the Missionary Circle and Hospitality Committee. She was active in her community, volunteering at the Rockingham Soup Kitchen and Shelter, and the Women’s Center in Hamlet. Sister McDonald loved children and was a substitute teacher in Richmond County Public Schools for a period of time. She also worked as a Nursing Assistant in Richmond County.

Family was everything to her, and she valued family connections. She believed that family should be held close and treasured. Christine McDonald was the heart and soul of her family - a woman whose love knew no bounds. She was a devoted wife, mother, cherished friend and a guiding light to all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her warmth, strength and unwavering support created a home of genuine love, safety and wholeness. Christine McDonald also took pleasure in helping others and being a blessing to the community. Where there was an opportunity to help someone, she did not hesitate to do so.

Funeral service will be held on April 3, 2026, at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, 3301 Beatties Ford Road, Charlotte, NC 28216 at 12:00 noon. Family will receive friends at 11:00 am prior to the funeral.
