He was not SUPERMAN but he was a super man. His super power was his ability to connect with people. We were all drawn to his brilliant smile and his honest words. It was his life’s calling to reach out, lend a hand, & a listening ear. Whether you were friend, family, a Silicon Valley star or Soledad brother, he answered the call. He gave us his time, respect and dignity.
Two things replenished him, the ocean and love. The ocean waves washed him clean and breathed life into his spirit. Love made him whole and ready to face one day at a time.
Chris Ewing packed a lot of life into his short 74 years. He was born to Patrick and Louise Ewing Dec 11, 1951, in Tacoma WA. He and siblings Patrick (PJ), Michael, Victoria, and Susan spent their childhoods on the move while Patrick Sr. followed his AT&T career. Chris’ passion for the ocean began early, as he and brother Mike used rubber rafts to body surf in the Atlantic. After a move to Southern CA 1964, Chris caught the Beach Boys fever and his lifelong desire to “catch a wave” began.
Chris had many profound and colorful episodes in life, marked by his marriages to Sue, Victoria and Kristine. Chris and Sue welcomed their beloved sons Dean and Vince. Chris was a playful and devoted father, teaching Dean and Vince to love the outdoors through camping, fishing and surfing.
In the 3rd chapter of his life Chris married Kristine. What a pair were CE and KB. They shared 20 wonderful years together with the common goal of sharing family, sobriety and fun. Chris found joy in shaping another young life with son Noah, through their love of trains, bicycles, and music.
Chris worked in construction and had a 20-year career with the City of Palo Alto. He also found new life and strength through his involvement in the program of Bill W., which helped him navigate life’s challenges and share his journey of sobriety with others. His leadership brought lessons learned to all he touched. Chris was a remarkable man who shared life with so many people. He had plenty of love to go around. He was bigger than Surfer Chris. There is no substitute for his smile, hello, handshake or hug. We grieve his passing Dec 22, 2025. He is survived by wife Kristine Beebe, sons Vince and Noah; grandchildren Vanessa, Christopher, and Sara; siblings PJ, Michael, Vickie, and Susan and mother Louise. He was predeceased by father Patrick & son Dean. Through the valley he will be deeply missed. We wish him the perfect wave to carry him home.
