Cindy Williams, 70, passed away peacefully on January 3, 2026 after a brief battle with throat cancer and pneumonia. She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Peter, her daughter Kate (Adam) Pierce, her grandchildren William and Nora, and her brother Bruce Jr. "Chip" and mother Janet. She is preceded in death by her father, Bruce Habermehl Sr.
A lifelong resident of Farmington, she was a preschool teacher for more than 25 years, teaching thousands of children over the course of her tenure, sometimes as many as 100 each year. Living and working in the same town came with many opportunities to reconnect with current and former students. This meant she could never go to the library, playground, or out to dinner without seeing at least one person who wanted to stop, say hi, and get a hug.
Her long career as a teacher also meant she amassed an extensive collection of books, toys, craft materials, and other miscellaneous treasures, which she loved sharing with her grandchildren, neighbors, and new teachers. Her grandchildren never tired of "shopping" in Gigi's school room in the basement, still finding new treasures each time they braved the shelves and piles.
Not one for traditional hobbies, Cindy loved shopping at TJ Maxx (she was the original Maxxinista), enjoying her flower garden, going to the movies just to eat the popcorn, spending time with her grandchildren and friends, and loving on the over 10 rescue dogs she owned throughout her lifetime.
Per her wishes, no funeral will be held, but a memorial luncheon may take place later in spring. In the meantime, well-wishers are encouraged to donate to Dolly Parton's Imagination Library or Animal Placement Bureau if they are so inclined.
