Claire Aurora Walker

Claire Aurora (Laporte) Walker, 89, passed away peacefully on December 6, 2025. Born on April 23, 1936, to Florida and Lionel Laporte in West Thompson, Connecticut. Claire spent most of her life in Thompson and Putnam before retiring to Florida, where she enjoyed her later years building community and making new friends.
After high school, Claire began a hardworking and dedicated career that included positions at Montgomery Ward, Sears, and eventually Linemaster Switch Corporation, where she worked for over 25 years until her retirement. Her strong work ethic and steady presence left a lasting impression on customers and all who worked alongside her.
Claire was known for her kindness, gentle compassion, and unwavering commitment to helping others. She was a devout Catholic and had a gift for making those around her feel cared for and supported through her humble acts of service which touched many lives.
She also had a spirited love for DIY home projects—never shying away from a good remodel project while her husband was away and always eager to make a space brighter and more beautiful.
She leaves behind her husband of 53 years, Dennis Walker, who cherished and cared for her deeply. Claire was adored by her children Ronald (Linda), Kim (Paulette), Brenda (Tommy Johnson), and Dennis (Patricia), who will forever carry her love, strength, and warmth in their hearts.
She also leaves a legacy to her 12 grandchildren Amy, Charity, Ronnie, Jamie, Dione, Shane, Melanie, TJ, Sarah, Rachael, Tyler, and Mary.
Claire will be remembered for her humility, her warmth, her generous spirit, and the profound love she shared for her family and friends. She was loved by all, and her presence will be missed more than words can express.
