Clarence Melton Jr.

Clarence Melton Jr., born December 24, 1948, in Birmingham, Alabama, to the late Clarence Melton Sr. and Ida Bell Melton, graduated from Alden High School in Graysville, Alabama, in 1967. He later moved to Gary, Indiana, where he built a life centered on family and hard work. He married Mattie Lee Melton on July 8, 1989. Clarence worked 37 years at U.S. Steel and enjoyed music, singing, cooking, antique cars, interior decorating, and keeping his yard in perfect condition. On March 26, 2026, Clarence departed his earthly home for his heavenly home. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Mattie Lee Melton; his children; siblings; grandchildren; great-grandchild; and a host of extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, and son. Clarence Melton Jr. will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered. Services will be held April 11, 2026, at McDuffie Funeral Home, 1525 Broadway, Gary, IN 46407. Viewing will be from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., with services beginning at 11:00 a.m. Bishop Norman J.
