Cleetta (Fardal) Schrimper, born February 15, 1930, in Hamilton County, Iowa, passed away on December 9, 2025, in Fluvanna County, Virginia.

Raised on the family farm in Stanhope, Iowa, Cleetta was the daughter of Elmer and Effie (Dyvig) Fardal. She was baptized and confirmed at Saint Paul’s Lutheran Church in rural Jewell. She attended a country grade school and later graduated from high school in Stanhope. From an early age, she embraced farm life—learning to drive a tractor and car at 14 and helping with hay baling.

Cleetta earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Music from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa, in 1951. She began her professional career with Equitable of New York in Des Moines, where she met Richard Schrimper. They married in 1954 and later settled in Annandale, Virginia. Together they adopted beloved daughter Kristin in 1966 and Karen in 1968. The family were longtime members of Hope Lutheran Church. Richard passed away in 1991.

An avid traveler and active community member, Cleetta enjoyed bridge, bowling, playing in the Bell Choir, and participating in Crafty Ladies. In 1998, she married Dick Richter after meeting him through church activities; he passed away in 2015.

Later in life, Cleetta moved to Fluvanna County to be with her daughter Kristin. There she found joy once again in rural life, scenic drives to the mountains, relaxing on the porch, visiting the local beauty salon, and watching television with her cherished English Bulldog, Twilight Zone.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Clayton (Alice), Dean (Ruth), and Matthew; and an infant sister. She is survived by her daughter Kristin and Karen; sister-in-law Marlene Fardal; nieces; nephews; friends; and her beloved Bulldog Twilight.

May her memory bring comfort to those who knew her, she was surrounded by love and, at peace.
