Connie Vandeveer Beresford

Connie Beresford, 91, of Plymouth, Michigan, passed away on November 21, 2025.

Born July 11, 1934, in Detroit to Leroy and Isabel Vandeveer, Connie spent her childhood exploring the outdoors and enjoying summers at her family's Lake Huron cottage. She graduated from Kingswood High School in 1952 and earned a B.S. in Physical Therapy from the University of Michigan in 1956, where she formed lifelong friendships and was a member of Alpha Omicron Pi.

Connie began her career working in hospitals and at the Detroit Cerebral Palsy Center before spending 20 years with the Wayne Westland School District. She married Jim Beresford on December 21, 1957, at Christ Church Cranbrook, and they shared nearly 68 years together. Their life included time in Chicago and Detroit, raising their family in Royal Oak, and later living in Dearborn and Livonia. Connie enjoyed sailing, camping, boating, hiking, birding, and was active in church groups, AAUW, genealogy, and the arts. In retirement, she and Jim wintered in Florida, welcoming visits from family and friends.

Connie was preceded in death by her parents and sister Lindsay. She is survived by her husband Jim; children Tom (Debbie) and Ann (Tom Schneider); grandchildren John (Samantha), David (Phoebe), Maria (Carlos Pons), and Laura (Andrew Shaw); and nine great-grandchildren: Jack, Henry, Benjamin, Elsie, Carl James (CJ), Nathan, Tommy, Ian and River.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, November 26, 2025, at Ward Church Chapel, 40000 Six Mile Rd, Northville, MI. Visitation begins at 10:00 a.m., followed by the service at 11:00 a.m. A luncheon will follow at George's Senate Restaurant, 39430 Dun Rovin Dr, Northville, MI. Please let the family know your intention to attend the luncheon.
