Corliss was born in Battle Creek, MI, to Albert Lee "Tex" and Olive P. (Wiest) Hartford, and passed away in Timonium, MD, at the age of 88. She met Clair Belland at a dance in Augusta, MI (two days after he was honorably discharged from the Navy), and married him in 1956, one year after graduating from Battle Creek Central HS.

After getting married, Corliss settled in Kalamazoo, MI, and lived in the house her husband lovingly built. Corliss was thrilled to have the four children they had hoped for, and she was very proud of her home and all her children. She was the quintessential housewife of that era -- Cooking, baking, taking care of her home, and raising her children. Corliss was known for her kindness, her pie crusts, and her fondness for Bingo.

After her husband's retirement in 1997, the couple spent the next 17 winters in Donna, TX. There, Corliss made many new friends, had too much fun in Mexico, and came to love line dancing. In 2023, Corliss moved to Towson, MD, to live with her daughter, Connie Hart.

Corliss was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, two sons, Clayton and Leroy Belland, her brother, Brian Hartford, and nearly life-long friend, Barbara Haist. She is survived by her daughters, Connie Hart and Judy Belland, five grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Corliss will be interred with Clair at Fort Custer National Cemetery, without definitive plans for a ceremony at this time.
