Craig Hallowes Lundquist, age 77, died Easter Sunday, April 5, 2026, at his home in Jersey City, NJ. Craig had been a resident of Jersey City since 2000 and many of his friends there knew him as "Chris".
Born in Newton, MA to Francis Irving and Elsie Mary Lundquist on the 29th of December, 1948, Craig is survived by his 2 younger sisters, Linda Schultz of Stockholm, Sweden and Tina Gould of Knoxville, TN. His older brother and dearest friend, Wade, died all too young in May 2001.
Craig grew up in Port Chester, NY. and graduated from Port Chester High School in 1967. He especially loved his junior and senior years being involved in drama classes and plays. From 1967 to 1971 Craig attended Emerson College in Boston, MA, receiving his B.A. Degree in Communication and Broadcasting.
Working his way through college as a radio announcer at multiple radio stations in the Boston area, after graduation Craig went on to work both on the East and West Coast as a radio announcer and/or station manager. Throughout his career working in Radio, Craig loved analyzing and reporting The News.
As a lifelong bachelor, Craig made a great many friends during his radio career while also maintaining friendships from his high school and college days. Engaging in deep conversations with family and friends was very near and dear to Craig's heart. Since he always wanted to end his conversations on an Up-note, he would find something of humor to sign off with. And Oh!... how he loved telling a good joke, or equally, hearing one. Laughter was very essential to his sensitive soul.
Living alone most of his adult life, having the good fortune of roommates these past 7+ years was most welcomed by Craig. In particular, his friendship with Danny was indeed greatly valued and appreciated. Being Craig, he filled his days and nights analyzing current events and posting his thoughts and others commentaries as well, on his internet website. Chronicling the News, keeping up with friends and his altogether perfect Sam Cat, filled up his days these last years.
St. Mary's Cemetery in Port Chester, NY is now Craig's resting place, since he so loved his days there as a youth. His passing on Easter evening was very swift. The poem The Bridge by Edward Thomas conveys sweet surrender to what we all, one day, will encounter. May we all give great thought to the Hereafter. Departing... knowing full well where we are going.
The Bridge
I have come a long way to-day:
On a strange bridge alone,
Remembering friends, old friends,
I rest, without smile or moan,
As they remember me without smile or moan.
All are behind, the kind
And the unkind too, no more
To-night than a dream. The stream
Runs swiftly yet drowns the Past,
The dark-lit stream has drowned the Future and the Past.
No traveller has rest more blest
Than this moment brief between
Two lives, when the Night's first lights
And shades hide what has never been,
Things goodlier, lovelier, dearer, than will be or have been.
