Cynthia Lynn Murrell Evans, 56, passed away unexpectedly on November 17, 2025, of a cardiac event. Cynthia was a kindhearted, humble woman who spoke lovingly to everyone and loved nature. She mentored those around her by just being herself. Born in Norfolk on May 1, 1969, she grew up in Virginia Beach. She attended Princess Anne High School in Virginia Beach, where she was active in the theater troupe playing Anne in Anne Frank and singing in the chorus. She earned a BA in Theater Arts cum laude attending first Va Tech. in Blacksburg, VA and then finishing Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA to complete her degree. She married Eric Eugene Evans, and she was his co-parent, construction helper, sous-chef, and best friend. She was a home school teacher, editor and writer for a home school magazine, and active in the home school community in Hampton Roads, VA. She was a staffer at a preschool. She later completed certifications in IT via self-study. Most recently she worked as a writer, editor, and IT support person at Evarell LLC. She volunteered as a docent at Hunter House Victorian Museum. She co-hosted a weekly Dungeons and Dragons game. She celebrated seasonal holidays, hosting Solstice dinner for family and friends, creating seasonal art such as arrangements of things from nature, and teaching the grandchildren about the holidays by doing things like gathering fall leaves. She took excellent care of her brother John Thomas Murrell in his retirement and his passing. She loved cross-stitch and sewing, producing a variety of framed pieces for family and friends to show her love - blankets, costumes, and personal clothing. Following a diagnosis in 2023 of Primary Biliary Cholangitis (PBC), Cynthia showed courage and determination accepting the lifelong uncertainty. She changed her life, healed, and looked to the future with grandchildren. Cynthia is survived by her husband Eric Eugene Evans, child Evarrell Corwyn Evans, grandchildren Lok and Griffen Evans and Willow Bryant, and sister Diana Lee Keena. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hunter House Victorian Museum in Norfolk, Virginia, American Liver Foundation, PBCers Organization, or local theaters. A memorial is planned and will be announced at a later date.
