Cynthia Lee Torrez, 62, passed away after a courageous battle against pancreatic cancer on March 10, 2026 at her home in Maitland Florida.

Cynthia was born to her parents Larry and Pamala Burton on May 2, 1963, in California; however, was raised in Winter Park Florida. While she was an only child, she had an inseparable best friend, Lori, with whom she remained close with until her dying day. She married her high school sweetheart Jose, and had three daughters.

While Cynthia’s career began in banking, she ended up working for Orangewood Christian School for 30 years starting with playground and carpool to becoming the assistant IT director with her boss and dear friend Ulyses.

Affectionately known by her nickname, Janet, she was a loyal friend, beloved mother, even more beloved grandmother, avid traveler, baker and knitter. She had a zest for life and passion for history that intersected with many trips overseas to discover and learn as much as possible. She had a particular affinity with all things Winston Churchill and visited many historical sites, her favorite of which was Normandy France.

She is survived by her husband; Jose. Daughters; Gabrielle(husband Brandon), Nastasha and Ariana(husband Kyle). Grandchildren: Colton, Adalynn, and one more on the way. She is preceded in death by her parents, Larry and Pamala.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2026 at 10:00AM, with a gathering of friends and family from 11:00AM-12:00PM at Orangewood Christian Church. All are welcome to attend. We kindly ask in lieu of flowers to please consider donating to the National Pancreatic Cancer Foundation in Cynthia’s honor.
