Dan Preston Bullard was born 1956 in Tracy, CA. and passed away on 17 March 2026 aboard his houseboat in Portland, OR. At 14 years of age he was riding his motorcycle all over the hills out side Tracy and along the river and levee roads, enjoying the freedom and solitude. When he got his drivers license, he bought a little boat. His father asked him why, Dan replied, "You've got a car I can borrow, I want a boat." Graduated Tracy High School 1974. Worked for the city of Tracy Parks Department. Served in US Navy 1976 - 1982 earning the Master Training Specialist certificate, Good Conduct medal, and Honorable Discharge. In 1980 married April at NAVCOMSTA Harold E. Holt, where he rode his motorcycle all over the Northwest Cape and got his certificate to fly gliders. As a Master Training Specialist, finished his Nacy service as an instructor at the Krypto school on Mare Island, Vallejo, CA. Began his civilian career at Technical Training Center in San Jose. He earned a distinguished reputation in the computer chip Automated Test Engineering industry and worked for many companies including GenRad, and Credence, moving to Aloha, Oregon in 1993. Continued working at Credence, then Schlumberger at Intel, Maxim, and Nextest and is on the patent for testing the Smartcard chip. The family enjoyed numerous road trips, camping trips, motorcycle riding, and boating. Dan and April moved onto their houseboat, Great Ambition in 2007, and a year later, quit working to wander and explore the waterways of the greater Portland/Vancouver area. They had many adventures and rescues up and down the Columbia River, documented on his website. One of his favorite sayings, "It's a rough life, but someone's got to live it." After a few years, he returned to work a stint at Tectronics to do some repairs on the houseboat, then officially retired. He enjoyed voluteering with the Friends of the Vancouver Library. Dan wrote a partial career biography, "The Reluctant Road Warrior" in 2016. He discovered and published the Bullard Laws of Harmonics in three books beginning in 2017. Promotion for his books included his YouTube channel Dans Flix and numerous articles on LinkedIn. Dan and April celebrated their 46th Anniversary January 2026. Dan was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was known for his intelligence, integrity, curiosity, humor, self-reliance and love of the outdoors. He is survived by his wife, April, children Christopher, Candice, and Samantha, and grandchildren Draco, Wolfgang, Jezabelle, and Celestine.
