Daniel Edward Crook

Daniel Edward Crook, 60, was born June 6, 1965, in Belleville, Illinois, and passed away peacefully on March 11, 2026, in Santa Barbara, California, at Serenity House Hospice. Daniel will be cremated, as he wished.

Daniel was preceded in death by his mother, Sally Hogan. He is survived by his father, Donald Crook (Mary), and his siblings: Thomas Crook (Elizabeth), James Crook (Deborah), Robert Crook, William Crook, and Elizabeth Crook.

Sister-in-law "Debbie" Crook and cousin Angela (Crook) McMurtry were with Daniel when he passed. Debbie reported that Daniel's passing was the most comfortable and peaceful deaths, she had ever witnessed.

Daniel was an educator at heart, teaching Special Education for 20 years in Missouri and Illinois before moving to California to teach for a couple of years in San Jose. Daniel taught himself Latin as he studied botany in high school. He was also a gifted artist—each year he sketched his students and made sure they received a copy, a keepsake many cherished. Daniel loved photography as well, especially capturing landscapes and the travels that came with it. In his later years, he found comfort and joy living in Goleta, California, with Angela and he spent the last 5+ years of his life there. Over the years, hearing from former students and seeing the many lives Daniel touched has been a powerful reminder of how much he meant to others.
