Daniel Llewellyn Edwards, born on October 27th, 1970 in Waynesboro, Virginia caught his final ride out off this mess on January 5th, 2026 in a peaceful hospital room at UPMC Western Maryland. He was surrounded by love and compassionate care during his final send-off. Danny was dealt a difficult hand, but he managed to maintain his sense of humor and self, as well as a generally positive outlook throughout.
Danny had no apparent filter, so he had a tendency to put his big ol' foot in his mouth, but the same trait meant that he was ready to talk to just about anyone about nearly anything, and made connections everywhere he went. He was so gregarious and interested in such a broad array of topics that he could dive into any conversation, scattering it with reasonable input as well as half formed suggestions, questionable jokes and metaphors, and accidental irreverence.
Danny had a long culinary career and loved making and eating delicious food. To the very end he continued researching and rambling about food preparation. During his final years, he changed career paths fluidly, diving into fiberglass manufacturing via a local business. His employer and friend, Kris Montana, was pivotal in giving Danny more time with us by pushing him to seek treatment last summer, and we greatly appreciate it. These last several months allowed Danny to reconnect with many, including his beloved children and their mother.
Danny was a fixer and, while it wasn't always apparent, a nurturer: he loved to tinker, grow plants (especially his favorite), and all animals, even odd little ones. He was an absolute goof ball, so children and dogs tended to gravitate towards him. He loved fishing and raising fish, solving problems, and was generally up for helping anyone in need. As a final contribution, Danny donated his corneas to help someone regain their vision, and his body to furthering medical research. He would be tickled by both, and many stand to benefit.
Danny was proceeded in death by his mother Jane Laska, and his son Noel Llewellyn. He is survived by his children Cynthia Kadlec and Eddie Santos; his father Ronald Edwards; his brother Tom Edwards; and his two sisters; Tammy Mays, and Amy Wightman. He also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews who enjoyed his shenanigans and insight.
The family would like to express their profound gratitude to Mark and Erin Schoeck. Their compassionate care of Danny gave him dignity and comfort throughout his illness.
We will be arranging a virtual memorial for all, while family and close friends plan a future gathering.
