Daniel Thomas DeHanes, 71, passed away peacefully on March 4, 2026, in Sarasota, Florida. Born on November 16, 1954, in Elizabeth, New Jersey, Daniel lived a life marked by dedication to his family, career, and community.

Daniel pursued his education with distinction, earning a Bachelor of Engineering degree from Arizona State University, graduating with honors. He later attended the University of Tampa to further his studies in Quality Management through its MBA program. His commitment to excellence was evident throughout his professional journey.

Over the course of his career, Daniel made significant contributions as an engineer and compliance expert. He spent a decade as a Compliance & Test Engineer for Edwards Systems Technology/GE Security in Bradenton, Florida. He then dedicated nine years to roles as a Global Regulatory & Product Safety Compliance Engineer at GE Healthcare and Ascom Wireless Solutions. In the later years of his career, Daniel served as Principal Contract for SRQ Advisory Services in the North Port-Sarasota area before retiring after six successful years.

Beyond his professional achievements, Daniel found joy in spending time at the beach and hiking. He cherished moments with family and friends and was deeply involved in his community. As a resident of the Sunrise Golf Club Condominium Community, he served on the HOA Board and formed lasting bonds with those around him.

Daniel is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Mark and Elizabeth DeHanes of Westfield, New Jersey; his sister and brother-in-law, Anne Marie and Tommy Talty of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; his niece Dr. Jennifer Lazaro and her husband Chuck of Kenilworth, New Jersey; his nephew Tom Talty, his wife Stephanie, and great niece, Clara of West Milton, Pennsylvania; and another nephew Danny Talty and his wife Alise of Crestwood, Kentucky. He was predeceased by his parents, Mark DeHanes and Anna (DeHanes) Cymbaluk.

A loving brother and uncle who brought warmth to every gathering he attended, Daniel will be profoundly missed by all who knew him. His memory will live on in the hearts of those he touched with his kindness and dedication.


May Daniel's legacy bring comfort to those who mourn him. A Memorial Service will be held in Sarasota, FL, on May 2, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Incarnation Catholic Church 2929 Bee Ridge Road, Sarasota. A Memorial Service will be held on May 30, 2026, in Colonia, NJ, at St. Gertrude Cemetery & Mausoleum, 53 Inman Avenue Colonia. Guests should gather in the mausoleum chapel.
