Daniel R. Vecchione, age 75, a lifelong resident of Quincy, died peacefully, Wednesday, December 17, 2025 in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his loving family.
Daniel was born in Winthrop, to the late Vincent P. and Elizabeth A. (McArdle) Vecchione. He was raised and educated in Quincy, and was a graduate of North Quincy High School, Class of 1969.
Dan was proud to have served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam era. He was assigned to the 681st Direct Air Support Squadron.
Dan was employed as a foreman in the Water, Sewer, and Drain Division of the Department of Public Works for the City of Quincy. He retired on June 9, 2013 after thirty-six years of service.
He was a member of the Cyril P. Morrisette American Legion Post 294.
Dan was an avid walker and enjoyed playing cards, especially cribbage and hearts. As a younger man, he also enjoyed playing horseshoes. Dan was an animal lover and had a special connection with his dogs, Biggie, Josie, and Reese's. In his later years, he was a constant, steady presence in the lives of his grandchildren, actively supporting their interests and activities.

Devoted father of Charity A. Cimmino and her husband William, Jr., Christy L. Richards, and Daniel R. Vecchione.
Loving grandfather of William Cimmino III, Eva Rosemary Cimmino, and Kyle S. Tobin.
Dear brother of Vincent P. Vecchione, Jr., Patricia Nigro, Donna DeVita, Ronald Vecchione, Robert Vecchione, Thomas Vecchione, William Vecchione, and predeceased by Carol Gould, David Vecchione, and Bettyann McCourt.
Dan is also survived by his companions, Deedee, Kathy, Sean, Jovany, Adriana, Pam, Laurie, and Ron; his walking companion and chocolate buddy, Timothy Albert; many nieces, nephews, and their families.
Visiting Hours will be held at the Sweeney Brothers Home for Funerals, 1 Independence Avenue, Quincy, on Saturday, December 20, from 2 - 5 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Inurnment, with military honors, at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, will take place in April of 2026. A Celebration of Dan's Life will be held at the Cyril P. Morrisette Post, 81 Liberty Street, Quincy, on Sunday, June 7, 2026.
