Darla June Davis

1956 - 2026

Darla June Davis (maiden name Lancaster), age 69, of Sumner, Illinois, passed away peacefully on March 17, 2026, in the family home she shared with her daughter and son-in-law in Powell, Ohio.

Born on October 30, 1956, Darla lived a life full of love, resilience, and adventure. Alongside her beloved husband, Robert Davis, she traveled across the country, living in more than 30 different places as they navigated the ever-changing journey of military life as well as parenthood during his time in the Army. Through every move and moment, they built a strong, loving foundation centered on family.

Darla was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose life was centered around her family. She shared a beautiful, lifelong love story with her husband, Robert Davis, whom she began dating in middle school. Together, they built a life rooted in love, loyalty, and family.

Darla had a quiet nature, but those closest to her knew her as incredibly funny, often surprising everyone with her spunk and perfectly timed, off-the-wall comments that could make anyone laugh. She found joy in the simple things—cooking for her family, relaxing at home, shopping, caring for her plants, and spending time with her beloved Yorkies. You could almost always find her with a cigarette in hand and a smile on her face, content in the moment and surrounded by those she loved.

She especially loved playing Farkle with her family, a tradition that brought her so much happiness—particularly the time spent laughing and playing alongside her sister, Candi.

Darla was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert Davis of Sumner, Illinois; her sister, Candice (Lancaster) Royse; her mother, Junella Lancaster (Lathrop); her father, Ralph Lancaster; her brother, Gerald Lancaster; her mother-in-law, Ruby Davis; as well as several cherished brothers-in-law.

She is survived by her only daughter and best friend, Crystal Lynn Adams (Davis) of Columbus, Ohio, and her son-in-law, Kurtis Adams. She leaves behind her granddaughter, Kayla Netter (Adams) (partner, Jerra Kerns); her grandson, Kyle Adams; and her grandson-in-law, Jesse Netter. She was a proud great-grandmother to Elias James Netter, Luca Kurtis Netter, and Juniper Baylee Netter, all of whom she loved deeply.

Darla is also survived by her sister, Deona Dugger (Lancaster) of Sumner, Illinois; her sister-in-law, Brenda Wells; her niece, Brandy Whitney (Brent Whitney) of Sumner, Illinois; her nephews, Bill Dugger (Whitney Spencer) of Sumner, Illinois, Troy Dugger of Sumner, Illinois, and Jeremy Sailee (Tina Sailee) of Clarksville, Tennessee; along with many beloved great-nieces and nephews.

Darla will be remembered for her quiet strength, her sense of humor, and the deep love she had for her family. Her legacy lives on in the laughter, memories, and traditions she created with those she loved most.

In lieu of flowers, I ask that you perform random acts of kindness to others in need- in her honor. That is how she lived her life. Full of kindness & compassion.

No formal services will be held at this time. The family will honor her life privately, per her wishes.
