David Wayne Eckaus, 71, passed away on January 8, 2026, in Kirkland, Washington after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Born on November 5, 1954, at Ft. McPherson, Georgia, David lived a life marked by dedication to his passions and a deep commitment to those around him.

David was the son of Ted and Noreen Eckaus, both of whom preceded him in death. Throughout his life, he embodied qualities that left a lasting impression on those who knew him—loving, caring, generous, and conscientious.

A man of many talents and interests, David found joy and fulfillment in pursuits that connected him with nature and machinery alike. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing. His craftsmanship shone through in his certification as a log cabin builder—a pursuit that combined his appreciation for natural beauty with hands-on skill.

David also had a lifelong passion for motorcycling, some auto racing in his youth and careers as a skilled mechanic and truck driver. His expertise extended to automotive repair and parts trading, where he built a reputation for knowledge and reliability.

Dave had a particular love of dogs, with several well-loved companions that preceded him.

David's legacy continues through his family: Son Casey (Toby) Eckaus; Toby's daughter Nova Eckaus; daughter Gina Dierkson; and her children David and Dustin. His siblings, nephews and nieces were a big part of his life. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him, from childhood friends to those more recent.

May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him and serve as a reminder of a life lived with heart and purpose.
