David Joseph Fairfield

David Joseph Fairfield, 55, of Cape Carteret, North Carolina, passed away on March 15, 2026. Born on March 15, 1971, in Syracuse, New York, David lived a life full of adventure and connection.

David had an undeniable love for the outdoors and found joy in exploring nature’s beauty. Whether hitting the beach for a sunrise or motorcycling through the mountains or simply enjoying time outside with loved ones, he embraced every opportunity to be surrounded by God's creation. His adventurous spirit was matched only by his warm and welcoming personality—he truly never knew a stranger and jumped at every chance to lend a hand. David loved surrounding himself with family and friends.

Above all else, David cherished his role as a father. He is survived by his beloved children, Mason Fairfield, age 5, and Cecilia Fairfield, age 2. His love for them was boundless and evident in every aspect of his life.

David is also survived by his father, Len Fairfield; his sister and brother-in-law, Julia (Baker) & Ed Byrns; his nephew, Sammy Byrns; his niece, Georgianna Byrns; his aunt, Barbara Murray, as well as many cousins. He was predeceased by his loving mother, Marion Fairfield, who passed in May 2025.

David’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. May the legacy of his adventurous spirit and deep love for family bring comfort to all who mourn his passing. A Memorial Service will be held on March 26, 2026 at Grace Church, 807-810 West Corbett Avenue, Swansboro North Carolina with visitation at 6:00 PM, service at 7pm with a reception to follow. A second service in Florida is being planned for May 2026.
