David Andrew Gawley was born on January 24, 1971. He proudly lived most of his life in the Sunset District of San Francisco and then moved to Vacaville in 1995 to care for his beloved mother. He went to heaven on February 4, 2026 at the age of 55 because his weak heart could not handle a heart attack and pneumonia. David was predeceased by his father Charles S. Gawley, brother William Andrew, brother-in-law Anthony B. Uy and his 2nd father Alexander A. Gomez and brother Anthony A. Gomez.

David is survived by his beloved mother Mary Gawley Gomez, siblings Charles Gawley (Mary Kathryn), Patricia, Cynthia Gawley-Uy, William David (Mary Anki). He was a beloved uncle to Chrissy, Kelly, and Charles "C.J." Gawley; Catherine "Cici" Pease (Danny), Mary Uy, Anthony Uy; Sean and James Gawley; and beloved Grand Uncle to Ryan and Summer Pease. David is also survived by siblings Charlie, Carmen, Gary, and Benita Gomez with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

David worked as a carpenter framing houses earning his carpenter's accreditation. He was proud to say he had the same trade as Jesus. Additionally, he built and designed custom cabinets for professors at UC Berkeley and others, in oak some with pink grains. In between jobs, David worked as a custodian, grounds, postal delivery, chef, farm hand and auto mechanic. David loved and helped everyone. He had many good friends and loved hanging out with them. In his free time, David loved drawing with chalk, but loved his artwork so much that he did not want to part with it. His imaginative drawings included animals in the wild, whimsical drawings, including King Kong, Farrah Fawcett, and Evil Knievel. He also explored sculpting, created an eagle, a lion's head, and a hammerhead shark that he hung from the ceiling, along with a stuffed anaconda and all with red eyes that lit up. David was an amazing cook with lasagna, ribs, tri tip, adobo, baklava, and his own creations. He did love to relax with a beer, a movie and dessert after work. He was always working on his cars. David now joins his beloved dogs Sherman, Dixie, and Lemmy. He was a big sports fan of the Forty Niners, Giants and Sharks.

On March 1, 2026, David will be remembered at the 7:30 am and 11:30 am mass at St. Cecilia's Church 2555 -17th Avenue, San Francisco, CA and at 1:00 pm a Memorial Service in our Ladies Chapel (St. Cecilia's Church) with no music and no communion.

A Celebration of Life will follow at 2-6 pm on Sunday, March 1st, 2026 at the Pacifica Moose Lodge, 776 Bradford Way. Pacifica, CA. In memory of David's fun nature, please don Hawaiian wear, and bring fun stories to share.
