David Hagan,74, passed away peacefully on 12/19/2025 at an extended care hospital near his home in Anaheim California. His sister was with him.
He is survived by his sister Patricia, cousins and good friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, John R Hagan and Marie Colleran Hagan.
Dave grew up in Canfield Ohio. He attended St Charles Grade School and Cardinal Mooney High School. After graduating from the University of Utah Dave moved to Southern California. His first job was with the Orange County Chapter of the American Red Cross in Health and Safety Services. He received several awards for the CPR and First Aid classes he taught. From there he entered the insurance industry as a Safety Engineer. He held several offices with the Orange County Chapter of the American Society of Safety Engineers.
He left the field in 2011 when he became debilitated with chronic facial pain from a non-work related injury. He was then diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease and became mostly bedridden and eventually developed pneumonia and respiratory failure.
Dave for most of his life was a world traveler and proud of the 80 plus countries he visited. Many of these trips involved SCUBA diving. He loved the ocean and was an expert diver and Dive Master.
Dave also took pride in the 500 plus hours he served as a volunteer Exhibit Educator at The Aquarium of the Pacific. He enjoyed sharing his knowledge of the fish and other aquatic animals.
His constant companion of the last 14 years was a terrier mix rescue dog named Smokee who is now living in New England with Dave's sister.
An ocean based Celebration of Life is being planned for late July.
