David Ray Kech, 76, passed away on October 10, 2025, in Lafayette, Louisiana. Born on January 18, 1949, David dedicated over 30 years of his life to the United States Postal Service as a letter carrier, a career that highlighted his commitment to hard work and community service.
David proudly served in the Army from 1967 to 1971 as a Vietnam veteran, demonstrating his unwavering commitment to his country. His strong, faithful, and devoted nature was evident not only through his military service but also in his personal life. He lovingly cared for his wife until his last days and cherished moments spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.
A man of simple pleasures, David enjoyed gardening, playing cards with his family, and vacationing. He had a particular fondness for floating the lazy river with his wife, affectionately known as Mimi, and their grandchildren. These moments brought great joy to his life and created cherished family memories.
David is survived by his children, David Ray Kech Jr. and Donna Christoph; grandchildren, Blake Ryan Bolster, Ashley Victoria Bolster, Army Private Second Class Andrew Bolster, and Bryce Edward Kech; and step-grandchildren, Sha, Stephen, and Stevie. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Julia Kech; brothers, Sam, Jim, and Lester Kech; sisters, Dorothy Noska, Doris Moeller, Mary Ann Moeller, Jeanette Malinowski, and Gwendolyn Genzer; and step-grandson, Ryan Brinson.
A joint memorial service for Papa and Mimi will be held at their home at 231 McCormick St, Columbus, Texas, from 12 PM to 4 PM, where family, friends, and acquaintances can gather to celebrate their lives and legacy. David's life exemplified strength, devotion, and love, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew him.
