David Russell Kesterson, age 64, passed away on his birthday on 2/6/2026 at Methodist Richardson Medical Center in Richardson, Texas. He was born on 2/6/1962 in Springfield, Missouri to Ted and Sarah Kesterson.
David grew up in Springfield. He graduated from Parkview High School there in 1980. He received number one ratings for vocal performances there. After high school, he attended Missouri State University in Springfield where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Social Work in 1985. He was an honors student there.
After moving to the Dallas metro area, he worked for LifePath Systems as a social worker, for Carrollton Farmers Branch ISD as a teacher’s aide, and for Dallas College-Richland Campus as an assistant to handicapped students.
David married Lisa Katzenstein in 2000 in Dallas, Texas. They were married for 24 years. David enjoyed playing Beatles music on the guitar, and he also excelled at the saxophone (his first instrument), the piano, and the ukulele. He liked reading and watching anything about history, and cheering on the Dallas Cowboys. He loved his cats. He enjoyed writing, both stories and poetry.
David is survived by his former wife Lisa Katzenstein of Richardson, Texas, his brother Dan Kesterson of Marionville, Missouri, his sister Kathleen Guittar of Arlington Heights, Illinois, his mother Sarah Niday, of Richardson, Texas, and his father, Ted Kesterson, of Bend, Oregon.
David was preceded in death by his stepfather, Charles Niday.
A memorial service will be held at later date.
