David Kuperminc, a New York-based Creative Director whose inventive design work for major beauty brands reached audiences around the world, died on November 7, 2025. He was 37.
Born in Moscow, USSR, in 1987, David Kuperminc immigrated to the United States with his family in 1991. Even as a child, he displayed an uncommon creative spark and a natural aptitude for visual arts.
After graduating from high school, he moved to New York City to attend Pratt Institute in Brooklyn. He studied communication design, art direction, illustration and was an avid photographer. While at Pratt, he immersed himself in the city's vibrant culture, becoming a recognizable presence in New York nightlife and modeling for various brands, including Dior Homme.
Following his graduation, Mr. Kuperminc began his career as an Art Director at Sorrenti & Sutton and Nina Delman. His career took flight when he joined L'Oréal, where for the past nine years he shaped the visual identity of several of the company's leading brands. He played a key role in building the full design of L'Oréal ProLAB in Los Angeles, with the winning typographic solution that combined company's distinguishable brand and a clever nod to the city of LA. His creative talent contributed to the top brands such as Esse and Kérastase. His work has appeared in beauty stores and fashion magazines around the world and was most recently featured on billboards in Times Square and in all major U.S. cities.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, David Kuperminc was known for his kindness, loyalty, and razor-sharp sense of humor. He was a pillar of the gay community in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, where he lived and a great supporter of young artists and designers in fulfilling their dreams. To his friends, he was the person who showed up and offered support when it was needed most. He was deeply loved by his family and friends.
He is survived by his mother, Ella Kuperminc, his father, Ariel Kuperminc, his extended family with roots in Russia and Argentina, and his chosen family of close friends in Brooklyn.
