It is with deep love and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of David Edward Parrish, who passed away peacefully at home in Palatine, Illinois, on February 23, 2026. He was surrounded by loved ones in the days leading up to his passing.

David was born on September 13, 1950, in New York City and grew up in New Milford, New Jersey, alongside his two sisters. He later attended the University of Arkansas, a place that held a special place in his heart throughout his life. As a practice player on the football team, he developed a lifelong loyalty to the Arkansas Razorbacks. Over time, he also embraced his wife's favorite NFL team, the Denver Broncos, adding them to his list of must-watch games.

David built a distinguished career in the food industry, working in various roles before founding his own consulting company, The DellsGroup. His work ethic was unmatched — he believed in hard work, discipline, and showing up every day with purpose. These values defined him and became a cornerstone of the legacy he passed on to his children.

Outside of his professional life, David had a passion for travel and exploration. Whether for work or leisure, he delighted in discovering new places. Door County, Wisconsin, was a perennial favorite destination, but his travels took him far and wide. He drove through all 48 contiguous states and ventured abroad as well. His final international trip was to Denmark with his wife, Jill Werts, where they visited her family.

David had an insatiable curiosity and a love for learning. He enjoyed nonfiction books, history, and documentaries, always eager to delve into the stories behind people and events. This thoughtful approach to understanding the world reflected his deep appreciation for knowledge and perspective.

Above all else, David cherished his family. He is survived by his devoted wife, Jill Werts; his daughters Leslie Smith, Elise Chinn (Michael Chinn), and Stephanie Burroughs; and his beloved granddaughter Abigail Smith. Abbey brought immense pride and joy to David's life — he treasured every moment spent with her and took great pride in watching her grow.

David also leaves behind his sisters Diane Byrne (James Byrne) and Laura O'Brien (Frank O'Brien), as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and friends who will deeply miss him. He was predeceased by his mother, Sarah Nancy Parrish (nee Graham).

David's love for his family was unwavering. He was endlessly proud of his daughters and admired the strong women they became. His pride in their accomplishments was one of the greatest gifts he gave them — a constant reminder of their strength and capability. His steady presence and quiet devotion will remain an enduring example of perseverance, integrity, and commitment for those who knew him.

In accordance with David's wishes, he will be cremated. A celebration of life will be held at a later date to honor a man who worked hard, loved deeply, and left behind a legacy of resilience and dedication.

David Edward Parrish will be profoundly missed but forever remembered by all whose lives he touched. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him.
