David Fuller Purrington of Deerfield Beach, FL, passed away peacefully on April 13, 2026. Born in Franklin, NH, on October 29, 1940, he was preceded in death by his parents Carl and Margaret Purrington, and brother Rick Purrington. David is survived by his partner of 32 years, Cynthia (Cindy) Apperson, sister Gail Winkley, sister-in-law Carolyn Purrington, daughters Brooke Laxton and Ashley (Paul) Halloran, nephew Mark (Lisa) Winkley, niece Donna (Greg) Sharp, and grandchildren Pete Laxton, Jake Laxton, Sam Laxton, Avery Halloran, Olivia Halloran, and Reagan Halloran.
Dave graduated from Virginia Tech in 1963. After a successful career in the hotel business that took him all over the country, he settled in Atlanta, GA, to raise his family. Dave found his slice of heaven at Lake Burton in the North Georgia mountains in 1996. Dave and Cindy spent their retirement between summers at Lake Burton, GA, and winters in Deerfield Beach, FL. He loved his time renovating his lake house, appropriately called "Knot Done", as there was always a project in the works. When he was not working on a project, he loved playing golf and pickleball, spending time with family and friends at the lake, cheering on his beloved Virginia Tech Hokies, and traveling the world with Cindy. Dave especially treasured his time as "Papa" to his grandchildren.
Everyone loved "Hotel Dave". He had a heart of gold, a quick wit, and a sense of humor that made him the life of the party. He never met a stranger. If you knew him, you loved him.
A celebration of life for Dave will take place in early June at Lake Burton, GA. More details to follow.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to a charity of your choice. The family would love for you to raise your glass in a toast to a great man and share a memory of Dave with a friend.
