David Ronald Gannon, known as "Ronnie," 67, was born on January 6, 1958, in Norfolk, Virginia, and passed away at sunrise on December 24, 2025, with his loving family by his side. Ronnie had a deep love for the natural world, especially anywhere water met sky. He felt most at peace near the water, at the creek during high tide, watching a beautiful sunrise, or listening to a flowing mountain stream. He loved the mountains, snow, camping, and crabbing, and carried that love of nature with him wherever he went.
A true free spirit, Ronnie lived life fast and on his own terms. He made it abundantly clear he never wanted to be old, and in his 67 years, he lived many lives. He spent most of his career as a diesel mechanic, a trade that matched his incredible talent with his hands. He could fix, build, and understand things in a way that amazed those around him.
Ronnie loved music as much as he loved motion. He rode his motorcycle, played the drums, and picked up the harmonica, with a soundtrack that shifted over the years from country to blues, and to classic rock. He loved a good time, women, and laughter—especially the kind that came from his wicked sense of humor. Even at the very end, he was joking and talking sh*t, staying true to himself. Ronnie was indeed a gypsy soul.
Over the years, Ronnie's family came to know many versions of him. The best version was always the one where he felt his best—doing what he loved, outdoors, moving, laughing, and free. Above all else, he loved his family, and that love remained constant through every chapter of his life.
Ronnie will be remembered for his restless spirit, his sharp humor, his skilled hands, and his deep connection to the world around him. He leaves behind memories as vivid as a sunrise over the water—unforgettable, untamed, and full of life.
Ronnie was a beloved son, father, grandfather, and friend. Ronnie leaves to cherish his memories, his loving mother, Dorothy Louise Dixon Gannon; uncle who was much like a brother, Dean Wyman (Barbara); daughters, Violet Gannon and Sarah Cook (Richard); son, Ronnie Gannon (Victoria); and grandchildren Chloe and Cliff Cook. He was preceded in death by his grandmother Mary Louise Wyman; father, David Earnest Gannon; aunt, Nancy Perkins, and many other cherished family members and friends. Services will be held privately with close family and friends. Thank you for every thought and prayer.
