David Michael Sibert, 80, passed away on December 27, 2025. Born on November 19, 1945, Dave was the youngest of five children born to Lester Henry Sibert and Charlotte Marie Preston Sibert, in Kansas City, MO.
A proud veteran, Dave entered the U.S. Navy in April 1963. He served honorably aboard the U.S.S. Princeton during the Vietnam War and was discharged in April 1966. On June 19, 1969, he married Linda Joyce Morris. Two children were born from their union: Christina Michelle Sibert Burns and Daniel Keith Sibert.
Dave was a man of remarkable determination. Despite the challenges of dyslexia and attending eight different schools in his first seven years, he refused to be defeated. A self-taught lifelong learner, he taught himself programming to build and manage the custom business software for his company.
In March 1989, Dave founded Premium Heating & Cooling, Inc., which he operated until 2024. He viewed customer care as a mission rather than a job. His professional legacy lives on through his family; a son, stepson, and son-in-law all built HVAC careers under his mentorship, followed now by a grandson and step-grandson-in-law.
On April 11, 1992, Dave married Melissa Pickering Pauley. Together, they created a lively, loving family. Dave was known for his calm, laid-back style. His steady influence will be deeply missed. Whether with family, friends, or customers, he always went the extra mile to ensure people were taken care of. He will be remembered as a caring, generous person and a patriot.
Dave is survived by his wife, Melissa; his son, Danny (Tara); his daughter, Christy Burns (Nathan); and his step-children, Jason Pauley, Susannah Pauley (Delaney Moore), and Sarah Helm (Josh). He also leaves behind four grandchildren, six step-grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his four siblings, Leatha Mae Pauley, Helen Louise White, Dolores Marie Lawrence, and Lester William Sibert; and grandson, Jordan Khatchadourian.
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, January 18, 1:00 pm at Olathe Community Center. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to City Union Mission or Ronald McDonald House, Kansas City.
