After a brief battle with cancer, David Topper died on January 15, 2026 at age 68. Born June 29, 1957 in Bethesda, Maryland to Yale and Hildegard Topper, David was the eldest of four siblings.
After attending Duke University, David received his MBA from Stanford University. He then began an extensive career in finance, 22 years at Morgan Stanley, culminating in leading the Equity Capital Markets team. He continued in Capital Markets leadership at JPMorgan and then switched to an investing role as an Advisory Partner at General Atlantic. More recently he served as a financial advisor to biotechnology companies.
David's greatest pride was his family. David met his wife Peggy at Morgan Stanley and they were married September 6, 1986, sharing nearly 40 years of marriage. He was a devoted father to three daughters. David is survived by his wife Peggy Segal, his daughters and their partners, Katie and Max Fikke and their daughter (Thea), Becca and Ethan Rosenbaum, and Lizzy and Jake Blumer. David is also survived by his three siblings, Nina Maarse, Jamie Topper, and Ethan Topper. David was a talented drummer, a competitive horseback rider, and avid golfer.
Services will be held Monday, January 19 at 11am at Central Synagogue.
