With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of David Leroy Warden, a devoted father, grandfather, brother, and friend, on January 7, 2026, at the age of 82.
Born on December 24, 1943, in Clarinda, Iowa, David was primarily raised in Fort Morgan and Englewood, Colorado, where many of his lifelong memories were made. While attending Englewood High School (Class of 1961), he played football, basketball, and baseball. Standing 6' 5", basketball was his greatest love.
Dave was known for his playful sense of humor, generosity, strong work ethic, and his love and devotion to his family and friends. He enjoyed watching sports of all kinds, but his heart belonged to the Denver Broncos, Denver Nuggets, and San Diego Padres. An avid golfer and reader, he also enjoyed travels to Europe, Australia, and New Zealand, and loved taking scenic car rides where he could take in the view. However, his most treasured times were spent with family, enjoying one another's company and "friendly" games such as rummy or croquet.
He attended Colorado State University before embarking on a successful career in business that led him to the role of Vice President. Throughout his career, he earned the respect of colleagues for his integrity, leadership, and dedication, approaching his work with the same thoughtfulness and fairness that defined his life.
Above all else, Dave cherished his daughter and granddaughter. He was a loving and steady presence in their lives, offering guidance, encouragement, and unconditional love. He never missed an opportunity to share his wisdom or simply spend time together. His granddaughter will remember him for his warm smile, gentle humor, and his sweet gestures.
He is survived by his daughter, Laetitia, and son-in-law Chad; his beloved granddaughter, Lael; his brothers, Gail and Don (wife Shirley); his sister, Glenda (husband Phil); and nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his former wife, Loretta, with whom he maintained a lifelong friendship.
He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Charles Leeroy and Juanita Augusta.
A private celebration of Dave's life will be held in the summer of 2026 in Colorado. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to a charity of choice in Dave's honor.
