1947 - 2026

David Paul Zeitchik, 78, passed away peacefully on February 12, 2026, in Rockville, Maryland. Born on June 21, 1947, in Washington, D.C., David lived a life full of dedication, hard work, and joy.

David earned a Bachelor of Arts in Interior Design from the University of Maryland. His career was as diverse as it was impressive. He began his professional journey serving his country as a military policeman in the U.S. Army, stationed in Stuttgart, Germany. After his military service, David transitioned to law enforcement as a police officer in Prince George's County. His entrepreneurial spirit later led him to restaurant restoration and the creation of a highly successful furniture manufacturing company. In addition to these ventures, David excelled as a top salesman during his time at a Ford dealership, earning recognition every year for his outstanding performance.

Beyond his professional achievements, David was deeply involved in his community. He served as President of the Homeowners Association and the PTA at his children’s elementary schools and played an active role in running swim meets. As a Scoutmaster, he guided and mentored young people with enthusiasm and care. David approached every endeavor with unwavering commitment and gave 100% to everything he did.

David had an innate ability to connect with people. He loved talking with others, listening attentively, and offering sound advice when asked. Known for his sense of humor and quick wit, he delighted those around him with jokes and stories that brought laughter to many.

In his personal life, David found joy in several hobbies and pastimes. He conducted much of his business on the golf course and cherished time spent at Virginia Beach. A passionate sports fan, he loved watching games and attending University of Maryland football and basketball games. He could often be found proudly wearing University of Maryland attire. He was very proud of being a native-born Washingtonian and was a loyal lifelong fan of the Redskins. He loved his family and sports, in that order.

David is survived by his daughter Laura (Kevin), son Michael (Stephanie), sisters Judy and Phyllis, and grandchildren Irina, Matthew, Nate, and Mason. His family was a source of immense pride and joy for him.

David's legacy is one of kindness, dedication, humor, and love for life. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Operation Second Chance, which benefits wounded soldiers and their families. A memorial service will be held on March 1. Please contact his daughter, Laura, for information on the service.
