Dean Douglas Fortin, 82, of Portland, Oregon, passed away peacefully on February 17, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.

Dean was born May 27, 1943, in Detroit, Michigan. He grew up with an adventurous spirit and a curiosity about the world that remained with him throughout his life. He attended Central Michigan University and went on to build a successful career in information technology. Dean worked for many years in the IT field and retired from Pacificorp in 2001.

Dean embraced life with enthusiasm. He enjoyed traveling, golfing, hiking, camping, and spending time outdoors. Whether exploring new places or enjoying time in nature, he found great joy in adventure. Most of all, Dean treasured time spent with family and friends.

He will be remembered for his adventurous spirit, kindness, fun-loving nature, and resilience. Dean had a warm presence and an easy smile that made others feel welcome, and he was deeply loved by his family and many friends.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Susanna Morehouse; his daughter, Jennifer (Dan) Callen; grandsons, Andrew Brauer, Evan Brauer, and Jake Callen; stepdaughters, Allison (Cyrus) Rad and Karla (Greg) Hennagin; step-grandchildren, Alexander Rad, Hannah Rad, Bennett Rad, Emily Hennagin, and Gus Hennagin; and step-great-grandchild, Phoenix Rad.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Carol; his daughter, Shannon; and his sister, Carol Fortin.

Dean’s memory will live on in the stories and experiences shared by those who knew and loved him.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Legacy Health Hospice, the American Lung Association, the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, or the American Cancer Society.

Dean’s legacy is one of love, laughter, and a life well lived. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
