Deanna Joan (Kleitch) Virgona, age 84, of Oakland Township, Michigan, entered eternal peace on November 25, 2025, surrounded by the loving embrace of her family. Born in Troy, Michigan, she was the cherished daughter of Stephen and Lillian Kleitch, who nurtured in her the faith, grace, and tenderness that would shape her entire life.
From her earliest years, Deanna's spirit was drawn to faith and devotion. She attended Girls Catholic Central High School in Detroit, where her Catholic faith deepened and blossomed. She later continued her religious practice at the Carmelite Nun Monastery, a place that formed her with quiet reverence and steadfast belief. Throughout all the seasons of her life, Deanna walked gently with God—her devotion as constant as her warmth.
Her voice—an angelic soprano—was one of her greatest gifts. She sang in parish choirs for decades, lifting spirits in worship with clarity, beauty, and reverence. Deanna was often called upon as a commissioned soloist, blessing countless weddings and funerals with music that touched souls and comforted hearts. Her song was her offering, and she gave it freely.
In her younger years, Deanna worked at Michigan Mutual Insurance Company in Birmingham. It was within those walls that she was introduced to the love of her life, Alfred Virgona—a meeting that would become the cornerstone of her earthly journey. Their marriage grew into 60 years of deep devotion, built on quiet strength, faith, and a love that never wavered. The two were inseparable, partners not only in marriage but in every joy, challenge, and triumph.
Together, they raised their daughters, Gina Virgona-Rewold and Anne Virgona, who were the light of her world. As her family grew, so too did her heart. She was a proud and loving grandmother to:
Sahara Virgona-Rembisz (Andrew Rembisz), Charles Rewold (Olivia Rewold), Joseph Rewold, Michael Rewold, and Scarlett Virgona.
Her joy radiated even more brightly with the blessing of her great-grandchildren:
Anthony Virgona, Ayva Seymour-Virgona, Ella Rembisz, Lucy Rembisz, Luke Rewold, and a precious baby boy soon to arrive, already held tenderly in her heart.
Deanna is survived by her devoted husband of 60 years, Alfred Virgona; her loving sisters Barbara Gamner (Paul) and Delores Layzell (Bruce); and a wide, grateful circle of nieces and nephews who adored her. She never missed a wedding, shower, milestone, or celebration—her presence was a promise. As a godmother to many, she remembered every special occasion with handwritten cards, thoughtful calls, and her signature warmth. Friends described her as kind, steady, generous, and unfailingly loving—a woman who offered comfort without being asked and joy without hesitation.
She is preceded in death by her siblings:
Marie Roberts (Jack), Bette Glove (Johnny), Caroline, Bernadette, and Joseph.
Deanna's life was a tapestry woven with faith, music, family, and grace. Her heart was a sanctuary for all who knew her, her home a refuge of warmth and support. Holidays in her care were filled with charm and elegance—every detail tended to with love, meaning, and perfection.
She leaves behind a legacy not only in her family, but in every life she touched—through her voice, her kindness, and the quiet, steadfast love she gave so freely.
May her memory be a blessing, her spirit a gentle light, and her song one that echoes forever in the hearts of those she loved. We will miss her dearly, as her time here felt far too short.
Memorial Mass to be held at Deanna's Parish St. Andrew's Catholic church at a later date, to be determined.
