Debery Mann L. Coleman, the one and only son of Aurelia Glenda Walker and the late Debery L. Coleman, Sr., was born on December 1, 1970, at 12:38 a.m., at St. Catherine's Hospital in East Chicago, Indiana. Debery transitioned from labor to rest on Wednesday, January 14, 2026.
Debery attended Carey-Gosh Elementary School and Central High School, later graduating from Gary Roosevelt High School. He played basketball and had a deep passion for football, eventually becoming a star athlete and a legend on the football field at Central High School. His strength, discipline, and talent earned him recognition, accolades, and honors, with his name appearing in local newspapers and community write-ups. On and off the field, Debery was a force to be reckoned with.
At an early age, Debery confessed Christ and was baptized on February 4, 1979, at Zion Missionary Baptist Church, under the pastorage and leadership of Reverend Dr. J. C. Wade, Jr. He served his country in the United States Army as a Private and received an honorable discharge.
Throughout his life, Debery worked several jobs and most recently was employed as a forklift operator. No matter the role, he showed up with steadiness and pride. Debery was preceded in death by his father, Debery L. Coleman, Sr.; his maternal grandparents, Victor and Lydia Anderson; his paternal grandmother, Cora Coleman; five maternal uncles; four maternal aunts; and two paternal uncles. Debery leaves to cherish his memory his beloved and devoted mother, Aurelia Glenda Walker, whose presence in his life never wavered. He also leaves behind his maternal aunt, Evaline Anderson Woods. He is also survived by cousins , Deborah Cook, Gloria Edwards, Wanda Denise Emory, Noble Woods III, and Donald Emory (deceased), along with a wide circle of relatives and loved ones who shared in his laughter and presence. His close brother and lifelong friend, Mickey Cason, stood beside him with consistency and trust.
